Precision Aluminum Extrusion

How to produce aluminum extrusion profiles

In short, aluminum is heated in a furnace until it is soft enough to be shaped. The hot aluminum is then forced under tremendous pressure through a die, which determines the final shape of the profile. After the profile is extruded, it is cooled, stretched, hardened and cut to a certain size, after which it can be subjected to any necessary finishing processes. Examples include machining and surface treatment. The profiles can then be assembled into finished or semi-finished products.

What is Aluminum Extrusion?

Aluminum extrusion is a process that is used to create objects from aluminum with a specific cross-sectional profile.

A solid cylindrical block of aluminum—called a billet—is heated until it is moldable, but not molten. It is then pushed through a die using a powerful ram and emerges on the other end in the desired shape.
